The Client
A leading player in the international gaming industry that offers services including electronic gaming machines, online content distribution, gaming solutions and interactive video terminal systems to customers across the globe. The company provides path-breaking technology and services including slot machines, casino management services and associated technologies.
The Requirement
Being a strong global player in the gaming industry, the client has grown on a fast-track over the decades. This was made possible by a number of business strategies and unparalleled performance of the client’s employees. To drive the next phase of growth, several business decisions were taken. One of the key decisions was to nurture a leadership culture that will help drive the growth.
To complement the next phase of growth and to nurture a leadership culture, the client decided to opt for an eLearning solution. The goal was to ensure that all of its leaders use a consistent set of skills, knowledge and behaviors around key elements of leadership. Essentially, the client needed a custom eLearning solution to help the existing employees boost their performance and take the business to the next level.
The Challenge
This was already a classroom program for the leaders. Client wanted the eLearning solution to not only act as a refresher for those who had already attended the classroom session but also be a pre-cursor for leaders who were yet to attend this. It was therefore a challenge to create something that was a supplement for the classroom training as well as a companion/tool.
Moreover, since SKILLDOM had delivered an award-winning induction program to the client, we had to take this solution to the next level, which was a tough task indeed!
The Solution
The SKILLDOM design team came up with a gamified learning solution that had the following key features:
- Avatar Selection: SKILLDOM developed the functionality to select an avatar exclusively for this eLearning project. This functionality allowed learners to not only chose their avatar but also personalize it according to their choice.
- Business-based Design: The course was spread across nine modules educating learners about the leadership toolkit. Each module was highly customized as per client’s brand guidelines and the course theme. The customization was achieved by developing high-end graphics and using sound effects across modules besides sophisticated technical enhancements.
- Highly Interactive Games and Scenarios: The scenarios had added interactivities that kept the learners absorbed in the course. Besides, a series of highly interactive activities and mini-games were developed to provide an immersive learning experience to the learners.
- Rich Graphics and Videos: Each module featured a character and the mascot that guided learners throughout the course. The characters that featured in the modules were associated with the client’s business, the leadership elements and the organization’s function they guided learners on.
- Learning Portfolio: The learning portfolio tool was another customized feature developed for this course. This feature helped learners create a live action plan of their own. In addition, it helped learners keep track of their progress across modules.
The Impact
The result was an eLearning program that was loved by the target audience. The client highly appreciated the game-based learning approach. The project’s success was:
- The ‘Learning Portfolio’ tool designed by SKILLDOM became very handy and popular among the target audience.
- The eLearning program received adulation from leaders on many company forums.
