A Blended eLearning Solution for IRIS
An eLearning solution that provides employees of a leading organization managing financial information an overview of the key process.
The Client
IRIS Business Services Ltd. is a leading organization in the financial information management space. The company was one of the first to provide comprehensive XBRL solutions to businesses and institutions across the world. The organization provides customized technology solutions for content and data management, disseminates information to stock exchanges and investors, and provides effective content management services to institutional clients.
The Requirement
IRIS offers various products for enterprises, central banks, stock exchanges, governments and regulators. The company is renowned globally for the quality XBRL solutions that the company offers. IRIS had a classroom-based training program to introduce employees to XBRL. The organization wanted an eLearning course that will not only add on to the existing program but also offer flexibility to the learners. Moreover, the eLearning course was also to provide convenience to the learners and cost benefits to the organization. In line with this requirement, IRIS approached SKILLDOM to provide an eLearning solution that would:
- Introduce the target audience to XBRL and explain the XBRL jurisdictions across the globe
- Help the target audience understand the business reporting applications supported by XBRL along with its adoptions
The Challenge
The challenge was to:
- Analyze the financial content
- Understand the classroom-based training program
- Analyze the case studies for XBRL applications
Most importantly, it was vital to provide a solution that would not only offer the target audience a comprehensive overview of XBRL but also blend effectively with the classroom program.
The Solution
SKILLDOM design team proposed a custom eLearning solution. Some of the key features of this solution were:
- Animations: The financial reporting is a structured process across organizations helping them streamline financial information reporting. IRIS provided SKILLDOM with documents that elaborated different processes; however, it was important to present them in a way that would help the target audience understand them in a simplified and engaging way. Using animations rich in graphics helped achieve this objective.
- Customizations: Several features were customized according to the client’s branding guidelines and learning needs. Key features that were customized included:
- Templates: The templates were developed that not only met the client’s branding guidelines but also added interactivities in the eLearning course.
- GUI Elements: In addition to the standard GUI elements, additional GUI elements such as notes, glossary and FAQ were developed. While the glossary provided learners a quick access to key terms, FAQ section helped learners understand various parts of the process besides providing an overview of the eLearning program.
- Menu: The menu provided brief overview and duration of each topic. A provision was added that helped learner track their progress across topics.
